Saving Hardwood Gym Flooring

This school had a flood which threatened the gym flooring. The water had only penetrated under the bleachers. Had the water stayed too long the wood under the bleachers would have started to warp and cup. To prevent such damage we placed plastic sheeting over the seats to keep the moisture localized.

Under the bleachers we configured our air movers along the wet wall and floor. We also added dehumidifiers which raised the heat and removed humidity under the tent. Tenting a wood floor is standard practice in the industry. The heat and dry air speeds up the evaporation process of the water that is bound within the wood floor.
